  3. The program covers pre-technology topics but is not a pre-technology program. Graduates will have the skills to become Electronics Engineering Technicians after successful completion of the program.

The program is one of the most efficient pathways to higher education in Canada. At any stage of this pathway, students are able to graduate and start rewarding careers in electronics technology.
  5. Highly qualified faculty: Unlike many diploma programs, faculty who teach the program are qualified to teach at the Bachelors level with most instructors holding a PhD or Masters in their area of expertise.

Learning Outcomes

After completing the Electronics Engineering Technician diploma program, graduates are expected to:

  • Work in an environment involving troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance and installation of electronic devices such as alarm systems, telephone systems, computer systems and more
  • Apply appropriate mathematical techniques to effectively analyze a given electric or electronics system
  • Use appropriate measuring instruments for troubleshooting and maintenance of electronic devices such as wireless systems
  • Analyze and troubleshoot control systems such as an alarm system that are prevailing in most modern systems
  • Troubleshoot circuits and systems built around analog and digital components
  • Provide clear and sound justifications for purchasing electronic equipment and systems in accordance with relevant operational guidelines in the workplace
  • Apply health and safety regulations to all electronic projects that will be implemented in the workplace
  • Manage information effectively gathered from various sources to accomplish a given task in the workplace. Whether it is troubleshooting a problem in a telephone system, or installing an electrical system in an automobile
  • Select appropriate components for an application with given specifications provided by an employer
  • Apply knowledge and skills acquired from the program in understanding new technological advances in electronics systems
  • Communicate effectively in their work environment with both colleagues and customers in sales and customer services environments
  • Prepare, analyze, interpret and modify electrical and electronics drawings using software used for installing and maintaining electrical circuits
  • Assemble, modify, and test electronic components, circuits and systems such as installation of an electronic system in a ship or a car
